Sprint from anywhere
-
any time

Alone or with a small team
The Online Design Sprint workshop is open for 30 days. During the first 2 weeks (14 days), we release a new Design Sprint step almost every day. After that, the online workshop stays open for two more weeks so you can work at your own pace or even start a new Sprint at no additional cost!

The structure is set for you and you just follow the specific instructions given in each of the 18 steps. Every time after you have posted your results, feedback flows in from other participants and our coaches. After you have refined your result you move on to the next step.

It’s impossible to fall behind. Some participants do each step the day it is revealed, others do it a few days later or on the weekend. There are always people on the discussion board in each step — challenging each other, asking questions and sharing examples. It’s not unusual that new posts arrive every thirty minutes. You don’t (you can’t) read them all, just as you can’t hear every conversation in every classroom on Yale’s campus. That’s okay. Take what you need and be in the projects that interest you.

There are 3 parts to the process in this workshop:

1.

Watch the video

Each of the 18 steps features Innovator and Design Thinking-Expert Daniel Bartel, sharing his experience. The videos generally last about five minutes, each one prompting you to execute a particular step that is explained in detail.

We will recommend a time constraint so you focus on the outcome, not on perfection.

You will also enjoy the original Sprint Book page references and further readings. Coaches are around to support you!

2.

Sprint and post results

Next, you share your results with other participants in the workshop on the 24/7 discussion board. You can add text or photos, links to google drive or other services, or even post a recorded video!

Then the fun begins - you'll see feedback and new ideas be added to your results from the cohort.

3.

Discuss with others

Comment on other participants' responses and ask questions.

It's called a workshop because this is where the real work happens: You'll soon discover just how much you can learn by exchanging with others on this journey, even if they are located in a different country, go for different Sprint goals and have access to different resources.

Now you can incubate the feedback and move on to the next step!

Work at Your Own Pace

Picture
No giant promises. No rigorous timeline. No tests. You do real work with tangible results.

Most learning experiences are defined by a set schedule with exact deadlines, correct answers and a certificate at the end. We’re offering something different. We want you to commit to this workshop and to fit it into your already jam-packed life. We offer you guidance and peer accountability and ask you to respond with effort and contribution.

The Online Design Sprint is a safe space with support from people just like you to help you do the work that matters to you. We celebrate discovery, possibility, curiosity, generosity and the asynchronous nature of today's world.
In this workshop, you decide how much time and effort you will put in and the ways you'll apply it to your real project. The truth is that the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.

If you simply watch the videos, that’s fine, but the real magic happens when you become a contributor, a teacher, and a partner. The real magic of this online experience is when you do the work and the work is stretching by giving it your best attempt and joining discussions with other participants. It will feel uncomfortable, at first.

During the Online Design Sprint, we provide a flexible structure. The 18 steps outline the work, and the discussions make it real. Our coaches aren’t there with test prep or right answers — instead, they help you focus on the work at hand. You can take a few days away, then pick up where you left off, work within your time constraints, balance other responsibilities and address obstacles so you can keep moving forward no matter what. The feelings of falling behind or not doing enough are a trap. We’ll fight hard to keep those feelings from distracting you doing the work that matters.

The Online Design Sprint works is based on the underlying principles Seth Godin introduced in his workshops and that are proven to work. With nearly 12,000 attendees in his programs over the last few years, we've seen extraordinary results occur because participants embrace a simple possibility: That better is possible. That generous, open-hearted work in a community is a magical opportunity. Does that sound like what you’re looking for?

Thanks to sprint methodology I could make the working prototype in just 4 working days and test it. After 5 days I know if this project could work.

Sprint Coaches Support

We have a team of coaches who will support you during The Online Design Sprint. Our coaches model the culture of possibility, commitment, respect and connection.

They are trained to help facilitate and bring out the best in you by reflecting questions and holding you accountable.

They will not provide you with answers, reassurance or validation.

The project you're developing might result in a disapproval by your targeted users in the testing phase. Yet it's great to find out this is so easy. The online workshop and the coaches will get you closer to a breakthrough.

An effective way to get to solutions that matter

This isn’t a recorded online course, nor is it an overnight road to have it done for you. Instead, we’re focusing on helping you all the way so you can be proud at your validated solution and define the next steps.

We’re taking advantage of a powerful new way to execute — not to pass a test or follow a guru, but to move forward, to find the insights and confidence to move on.

We’re applying online peer-to-peer interactions to the Design Sprint Methodology, creating an all-new workshop, one for people with a big opportunity in sight, problem or idea that needs answers today. We’re doing this because it works.

Here’s the secret: It’s not simply a series of videos. Videos are a significant new learning tool, but without peer support and persistent follow-through, it’s too easy to let the projects slip. Most online learning offers are nothing but a bunch of videos. The Online Design Sprint is very different.

Every few minutes or so, a participant posts on one of our 24/7 discussion boards. All day, every day, people are presenting, connecting and exchanging feedback. People like you, supporting each other, teaching each other, challenging each other to go further on this journey.

You can’t fall behind, any more than you can fall behind at a conference. There’s wisdom in every corner. Take what you need, contribute what you can, repeat.
